Meat %26amp; Potato Pie
(Serves 4 to 6)
Ingredients:
500 gms of soft shin, cut into small cubes
Seasoned Flour
Cooking oil
1 onion, peeled %26amp; sliced
2 carrots, peeled %26amp; sliced (optional)
350mls of beef stock
Salt %26amp; black pepper
500 gms of potatoes, peeled, cut into cubes %26amp; parboiled
Short crust pastry
Method
Dust the meat with the seasoned flour. Heat the oil in a pan %26amp; fry the meat %26amp; onion until lightly browned. Add the carrot (if desired), stock %26amp; seasoning. Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for at least an hour or until the meat is very tender. (The longer and more slowly the meat is cooked the better). When the meat is ready mix in the drained potato cubes. Put into a deep pie dish or casserole and cover with a short crust pastry crust. Make three slits in the top of the pastry (for the steam to escape), brush with beaten egg or milk and bake for about 40 minutes at 200C until the pastry is golden brown.British pies.....Any got a good recipe for a meat and potatoe pie? 1 package pastry for double-crust pie
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup onion soup mix
1 dash pepper
1 dash allspice
1 lb ground beef
2 tablespoons snipped parsley
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon salt
12 ounces loose-pack frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed (3cups)
warmed catsup
Directions
1Prepare pie crust mix according to package directions; roll out for a 2-crust 9-inch pie.
*ine a 9-inch pie plate with half of the pastry.
*et aside.
*In bowl combine milk, dry onion soup mix, pepper, and allspice.
*Add ground beef: mix thoroughly.
*Lightly pat meat mixture into pastry-lined pie plate.
*Combine parsley, melted butter, and salt; add thawed hash brown potatoes, stirring to coat.
*Spoon potatoes over meat mixture.
*Adjust top crust; seal and flute edges cut slits for escape of steam.
*Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees till crust is golden, about 1 hour.
*Serve with warmed catsup.
1lb diced braising steak
seasoned flour

1 1/2lb potatoes - 1'; diced
2 Red oxos

12oz Mix Shortcrust pastry.12oz Pl.Flour, 6oz Fat
Roll meat in seasoned flour, fry with onion until browned, cover with water and add stock cubes, cover and simmer fir 1 - 11/2hrs. Add potatoes and cook further 15 mins. Adjust seasoning
Transfer to ovenproof dish and add pastry top, glaze with beaten egg and bake in hot oven for 30 mins.
This is delicious served with pickled red cabbage
MEAT AND POTATO PIE
3 tbsp. vegetable oil
3 c. shredded frozen hash browns
1 c. grated Swiss or Cheddar cheese
3/4 c. diced ham, sausage, or chopped chicken
1/4 c. chopped onion
1 c. milk
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
Chopped parsley
Mix together oil and potatoes in 9 inch pie plate. Press into pie crust shape. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes or until crust begins to brown. Remove from oven. Layer on cheese, meat and onion; set aside.
Combine milk, eggs and seasoning in bowl; beat all until blended. Pour egg mixture over layered ingredients. Sprinkle with parsley. Return to oven and bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Allow to cool 5 minutes before cutting into wedges. (4-6 servings)
It's a delicious way to use up leftovers by varying the meat and cheese depending on what you have on hand.

MEAT AND POTATO PIE
1 can Campbell's cream of mushroom soup
1 lb. ground beef
1/4 c. finely chopped onion
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 c. bread crumbs
2 tbsp. chopped parsley
Dash of pepper
2 c. mashed potatoes
1/4 c. shredded milk cheese
Mix 1/2 cup of soup, onion, egg, beef, parsley, bread crumbs and seasonings. Press into a 9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
Spoon off fat. Mix remaining soup and cheese into mashed potatoes. Put on hamburger crust. Bake 10 to 15 minutes more. Garnish with cooked crisp bacon. Makes one 9 inch meat pie.
Corned beef and tattie
Make a good short crust pastry and line a plate or pie dish (depends on how thick you want it.
2lb of pots
1 lrg onion diced = boiled with pots
1 tin of corned beef add to pot and onion mix
put into pie dish and add pastry top
brush with egg wash and cook until golden brown on gas mark 6.
Great with mushy peas and chips.
well i make this for my family get your frozen shortcrust pastry fry some spam into cubes and get some mixed veggy add cooked boiled potato chop them up .put in to the pastry add a lid and cook the pastry its simalar to cornish pastie.
