What is the best recipe for sweet potatoe pie?

My Granny Ernestine鈥檚 Spicy Sweet Potato Pie





1 unbaked pastry shell, 9-inch


3 cups cooked, mashed sweet potatoes (not yams)


1/4 cup butter


1/2 cup table sugar


1/2 cup brown sugar, packed


2 large eggs (3 medium or small)


1/4 cup reduced fat buttermilk milk


1/2 teaspoon nutmeg


1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon


1/4 teaspoon ground ginger


1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract





Combine hot potatoes, butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl; mix with electric mixer until smooth. Add eggs; blend with mixer on low speed. Add buttermilk, spices and vanilla; blend well and pour into pastry-lined pie shell. Bake at 350掳 for 45 to 50 minutes, or until firm. Cover loosely with a piece of aluminum foil the first 30 minutes of baking.What is the best recipe for sweet potatoe pie?
Sweet Potato Pie





1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened


1/2 cup sugar


2 eggs, lightly beaten


3/4 cup evaporated milk


2 cups mashed sweet potatoes


1 teaspoon vanilla extract


1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon


1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg


1/4 teaspoon salt


1 9'; unbaked pie shell





In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.


Add eggs; mix well.


Add milk, sweet potatoes, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; mix well.


Pour into pie shell.


Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes.


Reduce heat to 350 degrees; bake 35-40 minutes longer or until pie tests done.


Cool; Store in refrigerator. ~*-*~
