Any good sweet potatoe or yams recipes?

NO desserts please.Any good sweet potatoe or yams recipes?
You all do know that yams and sweet potatoes are not the same vegetable, right?





Check cooks.com, but this is my favorite.





KING'S ARMS TAVERN SWEET POTATOES


3 lbs. sweet potatoes


3/4 C. light brown sugar, packed


3 T. butter


1/2 t. cinnamon


1/2 t. nutmeg


1/4 t. salt


1 C. milk


Grease a 1 1/2 qt. casserole. Cook sweet potatoes in boiling salted water until done; peel and mash. Stir in all of remaining ingredients except 2 T. of the sugar. Pour into casserole and sprinkle with remaining sugar.





Bake 30 minutes at 400 degrees F.

Try allrecipes.com they have alot of pretty simple ways of cooking the same thing so they are not the same every time.
Pick one where you don't overcook them too much. I like them somewhat undercooked, and leave the skins on them, because that's the best part of the potato. Since they're already sweet, don't put marsh mellows on them like some crazy people do.
I cut them up like french fries and deep fry them, or I cut them into wedges, shake them up in shake n'bake and then chuck em in the oven at about 375 for 30 minutes or so til done.
Preheat your oven to 4oo. Prick whole, washed sweet potatoes all over with a fork. Place then in the oven for 45-60 min until tender all the way through. Cut open and add topping: butter, brown sugar, salt/pepper.


They are soo sweet and eating the skin is very good for you.

hi , my daughter is a fussy eater but loves this. i call it cheesy yam bake. boil the yam till soft , mash with butter and pepper (black pepper is best) pre heat oven to gas mark 5, lighty grease a baking tray roll mashed yam into balls (as best u can) sprinkle with grated mozzerella cheese place in centre of oven and bake till cheese is melted and u have a golden brown colour.
This is for pumpkin pie, but I think it would work great with Sweet Potato/Yams too. oh it is sooooo yum
