YUMMYUnique Mashed Potatoe Recipes?
Seems to me that mashed potatoes don't go with fish very well. However, one can add some sour cream when mashing them. I sometimes like to bake them after they're prepared. Some people like to mix up green peas in them (ewwww) and they ALWAYS say the same thing when criticized...

';It's all goin down the same hole';!

I've never tried beating up an egg in them before baking.
I like to mix in fresh, roasted garlic in my mashed potatoes. but personally, I think rice goes better with fish
OK sounds funny but this is the way I spice up my grits. When the potatoes are done mash them up.Now take and put some cream cheese instead of the butter, mix well.OK sprinkle some onion%26amp; garlic powder in.Salt as needed and I use white pepper.hope this helps, give it a try.
while boiling the potatoes, put in one or two cloves of whole garlic... it infuses with a nice flavor...then when mashing, add some fresh grated parmesan ... fresh has a stronger more distinct flavor....then i like a sprinkle of parsley or something green just to make it pretty....
This one looks very interesting. Calls for instant roasted garlic mashed potatoes but I would make my OWN roasted garlic mashed potatoes for this...

When I was a chef we would add variuos flavours to enhance the flavour, I used a combination of russet and either yukon gold or a meaty firm white potatos.

Then make them like usual, but adding things like roasted garlic, bacon, horseradish, wasabi, cheeses, fried onions even flavoured oils like truffle.

It is best not to complicate things use one or the other, not a bunch of things, herbs like parsely, chervil and thyme go nice with the garlic ones.

But do not over mix them as they will become gooey.
i've been a chef here in new orleans for a while now and one of my favorite things to do with seafood is roasted red pepper mash potatoes. just coat a red pepper in olive oil and let in bake in the oven until the skin bubbles and turns brown and black. take it out and close it up in a ziplock for a few minutes. this will help you rub the charred skin right off. toss the soft flesh right in with your regular mash potato recipe and you have a winner. the flavor combo with seafood is always a hit at my restaurant. i really like the light peach color that it gives the potatoes too.
Mash and season your potatoes the way you normally would and then sprinkle a good Paprika(to taste) on top.. simple and lovely
